Gates of the City

Lift up your heads, O you gates!  And be lifted up you everlasting doors!
And the King of Glory shall come in.  Who is this King of Glory?
The Lord of hosts.  He is the King of Glory.  Selah
Psalm 24:9,10

Welcome to the "Gates of the City" prayer ministry.  The purpose of this website is to share insights about the gates as they relate to us individually, as they are revealed in Harrisburg, Pennsylvania USA, and even gate discoveries in other cities.  Recognizing the condition of our nation, cities and communities, often grieves us.  As the people of God, we are called to move beyond the grief through prayer and then push forward into specific action.  We know that to employ one's skills for the Lord is futile without His anointing upon them.

"Unless the Lord builds the house, They labor in vain who build it;  Unless the Lord guards the city, The watchman stays awake in vain."
Psalm 127:1,2

The book of Nehemiah is a book of restoration, a record of the rebuilding of the walls and gates of Jerusalem.  It is also a picture of the restoration of His Church and the spiritual City of God.  The city of Jerusalem had twelve gates, which are a shadow of what is to come.  Each gate from the Jerusalem wall mentioned by Nehemiah has a message about Yahweh and depicts aspects of the finished work of Christ.  These gates reveal Him from His first coming sacrifice to His Second Coming and final judgment.  It is fascinating how God finds many different ways to tell the message of Christ, the good news.  This is just one more.

Rebuild the Wall

Spiritual renewal often begins with one person's vision.  Nehemiah had a vision and shared it with enthusiasm, inspiring Jerusalem's leaders to rebuild the wall.

It is our hope that this web site will inspire you to believe for spiritual renewal in all areas of your life, as well as in your nation, city and community. Do you see yourself as someone God desires to use?  God often uses one person to express the vision and another to bring His purposes to fruition. By encouraging and inspiring others, we activate the framework of unity necessary to accomplish the directives of God.

"And I heard a loud voice from the throne saying, Now the dwelling of God is with men, and He will live with them.  They will be His people, and God Himself will be with them and be their God."
